The Zimmerman Family: Alaskan Adventure

After the Krouse Gang reunion, we flew up to Alaska for a week and a half visit with the Nelson family. We had an incredible time and as always are amazed by the beauty of the Alaskan landscape. This was Owen's first trip to Alaska (and of course Joey's too) and his cousins were eager to show him some of their favorite places around Anchorage (local bounce house, Alaska Zoo, Imaginarium). The timing was perfect as Stefan's parents were also taking a trip to Alaska to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary, so we all got to spend some time in Seward and Anchorage together. The boys had a successful salmon fishing trip out of Seward (check out the pic of the spoils below), so we were able to bring home a nice cooler full of salmon to enjoy back East. Owen also got to experience his first soccer practice, joining in during Jack and Nic's practice (it was not all that successful - a lot of whining and trouble following directions. . . ). We also had a "celebrity" (if you can call her that) sighting at the Alaska Zoo as we happened to be touring at the same exact time as Kate Gosselin and her 8 kids. It was pretty wild - there was a paparazzo stalking them and everything. Jack was the lucky one that ended up in the tabloids though, landing a picture (very similar to the photo we took below) in OK! magazine.

Thanks so much to the Nelsons for being amazing hosts and to Brian for letting us crash at his place! After 3 weeks together, Owen had some major cousin withdrawal when we returned back to MD. . .
